In the middle of spring 1915 in Longeverne, Camus, at the age of 13, was preparing to become a man. He must finally fulfill the first mission of trust entrusted to him by his mother: take their goat Blanchette to old Gosey and reimburse him for his eight cents. But what appeared to be a simple task turns into a nightmare when Camus loses four of the eight pennies entrusted to him by his mother and, on top of that, has to deal with Blanchette’s execrable mood.
